Internet streaming is convenient, but not always reliable when compared to traditional broadcasting. There are many factors that can make online streaming difficult, especially in the corporate environment where information security is vital.

Streaming Requirements:

You must have the following resources in order to stream content from WUWM. Start by checking to see if you meet these requirements.
  • Broadband Internet Connection
  • Adobe Flash Version 10.x or Greater - Please visit Adobe Flash Downloads and install the latest version of Flash.
  • Speakers/Headphones

Help for listening at the workplace:

Listening at work can be difficult because many businesses use firewalls. A firewall is a device that filters content sent to computers on the network it is attached to. Your IT department or employer may block streaming to keep internet costs down and/or productivity up.

Some firewalls with strict security settings do what is called "Stateful Packet Inspection". This technology may falsely identify some internet streams as a security threat and block them. This may lead to a condition where you can stream other stations, but may not be able to stream WUWM or vice-versa.

Firewalls are the #1 reason for streaming difficulty in the workplace. Contact your IT department if you are having difficulty streaming at the workplace.

If you are unable to install Flash, or are having difficulty with the embedded player, you may also try our legacy streaming page.

If you continue to experience difficulty and would like personal assistance, please contact our engineering department. Be sure to provide as many details about the problem as possible.

Help for listening at home:

Make sure the internet connection you are on is broadband. Cable modems, and DSL typically fit this requirement. Dial-up modems or cellular tethered connections are typically not fast enough to support streaming on this site.

Some forms of antivirus and home firewall protection have been known to block internet streams because the security settings are too strict. You can test this by temporarily turning off your firewall software. If the stream begins to work, you will need to change security settings on your firewall. Re-enable your firewall and adjust the settings to allow connections to streaming.wuwm.com. If you are unsure how to do this, contact customer support for your anti-virus / firewall provider.

If you are experiencing difficulty with WUWM's embedded streaming player, you may be able to stream using our legacy service. This requires an external player such as iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Player, or Winamp.

If you continue to experience difficulty and would like personal assistance, please contact our engineering department. Be sure to provide as many details about the problem as possible.
