Beth Weckmueller

Advisory Board Immediate Past Chair

A Milwaukee native and proud MPS graduate, Beth Weckmueller’s baccalaureate and master’s degrees are in foreign languages and literature, and did post-graduate studies in Berlin, Germany.

Beth has worked as an interpreter, translator and editor, but spent the majority of her professional career at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee an instructor and in a variety of administrative roles related to student services. She retired from UWM as the emeritus executive director of enrollment services.

Beth remains connected to the university through various special projects, philanthropic and volunteer activities, including serving as a board member for the UWM chapter of Phi Beta Kappa as well as on the advisory board for WUWM, which she joined in 2015. Beth served as WUWM Advisory Board’s vice chair in 2018 and was chair from 2021-2023.

She’s an active supporter of a number of local nonprofit and service organizations, including board positions for the Women's Fund of Greater Milwaukee; the scholarship advisory board for the Johnson Controls, Incorporated Foundation; and involvement, since 2021, in supporting Afghan refugees in the Milwaukee area.

Beth is a complete NPR/WUWM junkie — old-school style and has been for four decades. There are several radios in her house, and no Alexa, but she also does have the WUWM app on her phone! Beth says, “As other forms of news media have gotten ever more one-sided and tendentious, I rely on public radio for the real news, and am thrilled that Milwaukee has WUWM — a real jewel.”
