Bill Koenig

Emeritus Advisory Board Member

Bill Koenig is a Chicago-area native and 1969 University of Illinois graduate. He began an actuarial career at Northwestern Mutual that year, moving through the ranks and attaining the executive officer position of chief actuary in 1988, a position which he held until shortly before retirement in 2009.

Bill has served on the boards of Penfield Children's Center, including as chairperson, and the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation. A Milwaukee County resident since 1969, he and his wife Linda have three grown children and currently reside in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. In retirement, he enjoys daily bike rides, all the while listening to WUWM, and yearly winter escapes to Florida.

Bill served on WUWM’s Advisory Board from 2013-2023. He says, “WUWM has been important to me since many years ago. The morning and evening news programs are the best way to prepare for the day and hear about the subsequent events of the day.”
