Biddle and Stamper to Fight for Willie Hines’ Former Common Council Seat

Former alderman Willie Hines, who also was Common Council president, stepped down in February, to take a job with the city’s housing authority.

Five people faced off in the primary Tuesday, for the chance to represent the 15th aldermanic district.

The two who advanced are former county supervisor Eyon Biddle, Sr., and County Supervisor Russell Stamper II.

Biddle stepped down from his job on the county board in 2012, in an attempt to oust Hines from office.

Stamper has served on the county board since April 2012.
