Ex Fabula: Board Call - Andrea Hoeschen, Esq.

Art Montes
Andrea Hoeschen sharing a story.

It was an amazing sixth season for Ex Fabula- with more community collaborations, more community support and more sold out Story Slams than ever before. With the end of the season comes the end of several terms for Ex Fabula Board Members, including Board of Directors Secretary, Andrea Hoeschen, Esq.

Along with being a favorite on the Ex Fabula stage, Andrea has faithfully served the Board since 2012. Her legal expertise has been invaluable to the organization’s continuing evolution. This week, we look back at a couple of our favorite stories by Andrea.

Our first story takes us back to our 2013 December Spectacular, “Bad Company.” When Andrea inadvertently finds herself coaching her son’s elementary school basketball team, she soon realizes that the “B” in her “Team B” may really stand for “Bad” as her team struggles through a series of defeats both on the court and off, only to rise to victory at the very last minute.

In January of 2012 Andrea and her husband, Brad, took to the stage to give us all a little insight into the real secret to successfully practicing law. As a litigator, Andrea is skilled in the art of rhetoric. And while the art of the argument is a necessary tool in a litigators briefcase, the storytelling duo shares explains that sometimes “Faking It” can only take you so far.

We thank Andrea for her dedication to Ex Fabula both on and off the stage and look forward to seeing her at many more Story Slams to come.

Are you interested in getting more involved with Ex Fabula? We have several Board of Directors positions open and are currently accepting applications. The Board of Directors supports Ex Fabula’s work by providing mission-based leadership, strategic governance, thought partnership and oversight to advance its mission. While Ex Fabula’s Executive Director (ED) oversees the daily workings of the organization, the Board/ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about Ex Fabula’s mission. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, academia, philanthropy or the nonprofit sector. His or her accomplishments will allow him or her to help to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members and other supporters.

Stay tuned as Ex Fabula has several summer collaborations coming and we want to see each of you there! Remember, we all have a story.
