Ex Fabula: 'Tis The Season

Art Montes
Storyteller Mary Wacker

Well, the holidays are upon us with Black Friday shoppers, Thanksgiving Day diners, and Christmas carolers.  All around, old traditions are lovingly observed and shared, while new ones are born and cultivated.

Here at Ex Fabula, we're also getting into the holiday spirit, with two heart-warming tales to enjoy with your Thanksgiving leftovers.

Mary Wacker has “bad check-out karma": she always ends up in the slowest check-out lane. In this story from last April’s “Only In Milwaukee” StorySlam, Mary’s worst nightmare comes true when her debit card fails her in a grocery line that is multiplying faster than she can subtract items. Suddenly, a kind stranger comes to Mary’s rescue. Lean in to learn how Mary paid it forward.

Storyteller Ed Makowski

Our next story comes from our very first Ex Fabula StorySlam in November of 2009. Ed Makowski is the third Ed in his family, and was expecting his own baby Ed to be born, when he was invited to sell Christmas trees to wealthy folks in Florida. He expected it would be an easy way to make money for a month or so. But he never expected he would come face-to-face with a million dollar piece of art.  Which one? You'll have to listen to find out!

Here at Ex Fabula, we are very thankful for our volunteers, members, community, and listeners!
