Today is the second installment of the monthly music series The Monthly Beatdownfeaturing Milwaukee singer-songwriter John Sieger.

Once a month on Lake Effect, Sieger brings friends and fellow musicians into WUWM's performance studio to play and chat.

This month, his group is composed of his brother Mike on bass, his son Sam on drums and Peter Roller on slide guitar, a group he often calls "the Siegerly Brothers," because they like to play Everly Brothers songs together.

This month we hear Sycamore Tree, an original tune by Sieger that he calls a "50s style ballad" that was "kinda romantic," in honor of Valentine's Day. True to its name, the song also has "a little bit of nature in it."
