New Milwaukee Seed Accelerator Seeks To Jump-Start Innovation Among College Students

thecommonswi.com

Organizers hope The Commons, a new seed accelerator project, will spark more collaboration between the business community and higher education institutions in the Milwaukee region.

When announced this summer, the organizers hoped the project would support the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs across academic disciplines at the schools.

Now, The Commons is set to launch this weekend at its new home in Walker's Point.

Two people behind the effort, Executive Director of Innovation in Milwaukee, Michael Hostad; and co-founder and chairman of Startup Milwaukee, Matt Cordio chat with Lake Effect's Mitch Teich about how the program gives students real business experience and the chance to work with reputable companies for a chance to excel in their field.

"I think a lot of the skills that students learn going through and entrepreneurial program are applicable no matter what path they end up taking in their lives or in their career," Hostad says.
