In-Studio Session: Hero Jr.

We just recently had the pleasure of talking with Indianapolis –based band, Hero Jr., in the WUWM studio. The band, which consists of four members, Evan Haughey (Guitar/Lead Vocals) Matthew Haughey (Drums/Vocals) David DuBrava (Bass/vocals) Ken Rose (Guitar/Vocals), likes to think of themselves as creating “meat and potatoes rock and roll.”

The group tries to keep their sound as natural as possibly by planning as little as possible and simply practicing and recording endlessly. Being that they all live within a square-block of one another, it’s no wonder their bond is so close and it is definitely apparent in the cohesive yet chaotic sound of their particular brand of rock and roll.

One of the most important aspects of being a band to Hero Jr. is to not be fake. The realism of being a band who truly believes in the music they are putting out causes the final product to move listeners in a vastly different and more effective way. One of their mottos is, “Just plug in a play”. Simple, sweet and so very rock and roll, the group’s simple way of looking at their craft allows them to just do what they love. Hero Jr. is hot off the NCAA March Madness Music Festival, which took place in their hometown of Indianapolis from April 3rd-5th. Keep an eye on our website for when we post the full interview with Hero Jr. and possibly even some live recordings of their tracks... very soon!
