Three Hospital Systems in Wisconsin Would Handle Ebola Cases Here

Froedtert Health, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the UW Hospitals and Clinics are prepared to treat Ebola cases, if any surface in Wisconsin.

Health officials say the likelihood of the deadly disease showing up here remains low, but hospitals statewide are training staff how to identify infected individuals, isolate them and provide initial treatment. Then the state would make sure they are transferred to one of the three health systems designated to treat Ebola patients.

Also looped into Wisconsin's preparedness plans are the state Department of Health and the Wisconsin Hospital Association.

They advise people concerned that they may have had contact with the virus, to call their health care provider or 1-844-684-1064.

Other states meanwhile - especially those with flights arriving from west Africa, continue debating what to do with passengers who have had contact with Ebola victims.

For instance, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is imposing a mandatory quarantine on such individuals. A nurse whom the state confined at a hospital, is criticizing the policy. She was released, after being free of symptoms for 24 hours.
