Thursday on Lake Effect: Rufus King Photo, 'Micro-communities,' 'Little Bird' Concerto, Joe Richter

Nov 28, 2018

Thursday on Lake Effect:

A group of Rufus King students took their own group photo in response to a picture of teens in Baraboo giving the Nazi salute (the photographer denies it was a Nazi salute). Students from Rufus King explain their decision to take this photo. Then, an organization taps the power of what it calls “micro-communities” to aid athletes with disabilities. Later, Nicolet High School students join alumna to create the world premiere of a challenging concerto. Plus, an in-studio performance from Milwaukee musician Joe Richter.

Guests:

  • Emily Files, WUWM education reporter; Kenadee Henderson, Estella Ramirez, Hannah Olencheck, students; Kelly O'Keefe Boettcher, English teacher, Rufus King High School
  • Dick Traum, founder, Achilles International
  • Yotam Haber, composer
  • Joe Richter, musician
