It’s one of the underlying principles of America’s judicial system: "Everyone deserves their day in court.” But just because all people are guaranteed the right to bring their grievances or defend themselves in a court of law does not necessarily mean they are all treated equally.
On this edition of UWM Today, we talk about the United States court system and how we can ensure that our courts are effective and equitable. Our guests are Tina Freiburger, a professor and chair of the Criminal Justice Department at UW-Milwaukee, and Raphael Ramos, an attorney with Legal Action of Wisconsin and Coordinator for Legal Action’s Eviction Defense Project.
