This month, Lake Effect's Mitch Teich talks with Mary McCormick of Milwaukee Women inc., and Business Journal reporters Rich Rovito and Corri Hess about efforts to diversify corporate boards in Milwaukee. The Business Journal first reported six years ago on the small percentage of women and minorities on boards. Follow-up reports this month in the publication indicate not much has changed since then. McCormick's non-profit organization is one of the groups working for change. Guests:
Mary McCormick
Mary McCormick is Vice-Chair of Milwaukee Women inc., a non-profit group of professional women seeking to change the face and quality of leadership in the Wisconsin business community. The group aimed to increase the number of women on Wisconsin boards to 25% by 2014. McCormick is also the Executive Director of the Rotary Club of Milwaukee.
Corri Hess
Corrinne Hess has been the Business Journal's health care reporter since July 2008. Previously, Hess was a reporter with the Daily Herald in northern Illinois and at the Kenosha News and Waukesha Freeman, where she covered several beats including municipal government, crime and education. Hess has won Wisconsin Newspaper Association awards for investigative reporting and open records/FOI. Hess is a 2001 graduate of UW-Whitewater.
Rich Rovito
Rich Rovito has been a reporter at The Business Journal since June 2000. His primary beats include: manufacturing, labor, transportation and education. In September 2007, he was the only reporter from Wisconsin to travel to China to cover Governor Doyle's trade mission. From 1991-2000, he was a reporter at CNI Newspapers, covering a variety of beats, including police and fire, municipal government, education and business. He has won several national, state and local reporting honors. He's a native of Bradford, PA and graduated from Marquette University in 1987 with a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration.
