She then left the newspaper industry and went to work at The Salvation Army of Greater Milwaukee as community relations director. Colas is also the co-host of Black Nouveau, a weekly news magazine featuring stories of interest to Milwaukee's African American community. She co-published Bronzeville, A Milwaukee Lifestyle: A Historical Overview, and co-produced MPTV’s Punching In, a documentary recognizing those who built Milwaukee’s Black middle class through the manufacturing labor force.

 Jean Creighton Astronomy Contributor | | Dr. Jean Creighton was born in Toronto and grew up in Greece, where her mother claims she showed a great interest in how stars form from the age of five. To her, Physics was the gateway to Astronomy, and so she studied physics at the University of Athens. She returned to Canada to earn a masters degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Waterloo. Since 1999, she's taught Astronomy at UW-Milwaukee, taking over as director of UWM's Manfred Olson Planetarium in 2007. Jean enjoys interacting with audiences in the theater and on the radio to give them an appreciation of what we know and how we know it.

 Tim Cuprisin Media critic | | Tim Cuprisin was the media columnist for onmilwaukee.com. He was a journalist for 30 years, starting in 1979 as a police reporter at the old City News Bureau of Chicago, a legendary wire service that's the reputed source of the journalistic maxim "If your mother says she loves you, check it out." He was the regular TV writer at the Milwaukee Journal and then the Journal Sentinel for 15 years. Tim was Lake Effect's long-time media contributor and a good friend to the show before he passed away in November 2011.

 John Gurda Historian | | John Gurda is a Milwaukee-born writer and historian who's studied his hometown since 1972. He is author of seventeen books, including histories of Milwaukee-area neighborhoods, churches and industries. Gurda's The Making of Milwaukee is the first feature-length history of the community published since 1948. Milwaukee Public Television produced a five-hour documentary series based on the book.
Gurda is also a lecturer, tour guide, and history columnist for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He holds a bachelor's degree in English from Boston College and a master's in cultural geography from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Gurda is an eight-time winner of the Wisconsin Historical Society's Award of Merit.

He writes for Backpacker Magazine and other publications, and has written two guidebooks: Hiking Wisconsin and Hiking Michigan's Upper Peninsula - A Guide to the Greatest Hiking Adventures in the U.P. The books reflect a memorable 1,700 miles of research on foot in search of the region's most notable pathways.

Ricigliano was a founding board member of the Alliance for Peacebuilding, a consortium of leading conflict resolution NGOs and academic centers. He has worked with political parties in the new Iraqi Parliament and on the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He’s going to finish his novel Pepperland some day soon—it’s about rock ‘n roll, the dawn of the Internet and radical love. He is also a professional voiceover talent—which means that he gets to talk big for happy radio, TV and corporate clients. The Vermont College of Fine Arts recently awarded him an MFA—he thinks that’s pretty cool.
