Jana Strobel and her husband Tim used preimplantation genetic diagnosis to avoid passing along recessive genes that cause an often fatal kidney disease. Their daughter, Addison, is the first baby born after this screening was used. Jana Strobel and her husband Tim used preimplantation genetic diagnosis to avoid passing along recessive genes that cause autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease. Their daughter, Addison, is the first baby born after this screening was used. Dr. Estil Strawn, Jr., is the medical director of the Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin Reproductive Medicine Clinic. He is also a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at The Medical College. Dr. David Bick is a pediatrics professor at the Medical College, and the medical director of genetics at Children's Hospital. They spoke with Stephanie Lecci.
