Volker Radeloff is an associate professor of forest and wildlife ecology at UW-Madison. He studies what’s called the “wildland-urban interface”: areas where development presses into the nation’s forests, mountains and lakes. He talks with Jane Hampden about the California wildfires and threats to Wisconsin’s north woods.
