Meg Kissinger and Susanne Rust are reporters for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Their series on chemicals in common plastics, written with Cary Spivak, won Sigma Delta Chi and American Business Editors and Writers awards for excellence. They will be featured in coming weeks on the PBS series Expose.
Carl Ganter is director and co-founder of Circle of Blue, a network of journalists and academics reporting on worldwide issues involving what the group calls “the defining challenge of our time: our diminishing supply of fresh, clean water.” Circle of Blue is based in Traverse City, Michigan. Ganter joins Jane Hampden on the line from the studios of Interlochen Public Radio.
Mexican singer Lila Downs performed earlier this month at Latino Arts on Milwaukee’s near south side. Tom May engineered her in-studio Lake Effect performance, and she spoke with Bonnie North. Downs performed another song for us – a cover of I Would Never Turn My Back by the Scottish group The Blue Nile.
