Mordecai Lee is a Professor of Governmental Affairs at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee School of Continuing Education, and a regular contributor to Lake Effect. His latest book is called Bureaus of Efficiency: Reforming Local Government in the Progressive Era, published by Marquette University Press.
Jan Egeland was the UN’s Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs from 2003 to 2006. He’s since left the UN to head an institute in his home country in Norway. He’s also written a memoir, called A Billion Lives: An Eyewitness Report from the Frontlines of Humanity, published by Simon & Schuster. We spoke with him last week before an appearance at UWM’s Institute of World Affairs.
