Dan Zitomer is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Marquette and Director of the Water Quality Center there. Research he’s involved in – looking at the potential of converting organic waste to energy – is in line for federal dollars in the FY 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill.
Lake Effect essayist Megan Gerrity is an editor and writer who lives in Milwaukee. She says she’s anxious for the season to begin – but not necessarily because of the Brewers’ playoff chances.
Patty Chones is the director of ArtLinks. Mark Cage works for the Adaptive Community Approach Program in Waukesha, or ACAP. The ACAP Players production of "The Pirates of Pizzazz," written by Cage and the ACAP Players, begins tonight and runs through April 4th at the Waukesha Civic Theatre. Cage tells Bonnie North that both programs work together to help adults with disabilities feel like they have a place in society.
Amanda Shalhoub is the co-host of Café Tonight, which airs weeknights at 7:00 on WUWM. She joins us every Thursday for an audio glimpse of what’s new on the Café Tonight playlist.
Erin Fein and Tristan Wraight are half of the band Headlights. The other members who joined us for the performance in Studio A are Brett Sanderson and Nick Sanborn. They’re based in Champaign, Illinois, but find themselves in Wisconsin often – they’re performing tonight, in fact, at Beloit College.
Before they left, Headlights played one more song – from their 2006 CD, Kill Them With Kindness – called “Your Old Street.” You can hear the whole thing by clicking below. Special thanks to our Tom May for yeoman’s work engineering our in-studio concert.
