Corri Hess is the health care reporter for the Business Journal of Milwaukee. She provided supplemental local research to the City Business Journals’ stories on its survey of small business owners nationwide. Daniel Steininger is President of Steininger & Associates and co-founder and Vice President of BizStarts Milwaukee. They spoke with Lake Effect for our monthly “Down to Business” segment discussing how small business owners feel about the Obama administration and this current economic crisis.

Patricia McConnell is an animal behaviorist and an adjunct associate professor in the department of zoology at the University of Wisconsin. She is an author of books and a blog on dog behavior and training, and gave a talk at the Wisconsin Humane Society here in Milwaukee last month. She told Bonnie North that there are studies that explore the relationship between human emotion and the doggy version.

Dr. Samantha Wilson is a clinical psychologist at the International Adoption Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She’s also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She says the IAC is the only clinic of its kind in the state that helps adoptive families by providing initial medical services for the children as well as developmental therapy.

Abby Vogen Horn is senior project manager for the Daylighting Collaborative, a project of the Madison-based Energy Center of Wisconsin. She was in Milwaukee recently to speak at the Wisconsin Renewable Energy Summit. She told Mitch Teich that the central guiding principle behind daylighting is saving energy.
