Karlene Kerfoot is a registered nurse, and the Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Aurora Health Care; Beth Hammer is also an RN - she's a nurse practitioner at the Zablocki VA Medical Center, and the incoming president of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. They spoke with Mitch Teich. Kerfoot and Hammer were among the featured speakers at a recent summit at Alverno College on critical issues facing health care workers. They spoke with Mitch Teich, and Kerfoot described the impact work environment is already having on patient care.

Eileen Mackevich is the Executive Director of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. She's also the co-founder of the Chicago Humanities Festival and was a long-time public affairs broadcaster on Chicago Public Radio. She is in town as a Johnson Distinguished Visitor at Carthage College in Kenosha. She'll be giving a free lecture open to the public titled "The Politics of Lincoln Today: To Whom Does He Belong?" tonight at 7:30 at the Kenosha Civil War Museum. Mackevich tells Stephanie Lecci that hopefully the celebration can help Americans to complete -- to borrow the phrase from the Gettysburg Address, “the unfinished work" left by Lincoln.
World renowned poet and activist Nikki Giovanni, reading “Deal or No Deal,” from her newest book, Bicycles: Love Poems. Giovanni has written more than 30 books for adults and children. She is also a University Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Her interview with Stephanie Lecci first aired in February.
