Brenda Gorman, Maura Moyle, and Sue Berman direct Marquette University's Wisconsin Reading Acquisition Program, which links literacy with speech development. Brenda Gorman, Maura Moyle, and Sue Berman all teach in the speech pathology and audiology program at Marquette University, and direct the Wisconsin Reading Acquisition Program. WRAP last year received a four million dollar federal grant for its work on early literacy efforts. They spoke with Mitch Teich and Brenda Gorman explained the link between language development and literacy skills.

The Tuvan throat-singing quartet Alash visited the Lake Effect studios with their manager and interpreter Sean Quirk. The group Alash, a quartet from Tuva, performed throat-singing in Lake Effect’s Studio A last month. WUWM’s audio engineer Jon Strelecki, recorded the concert. Their manager and interpreter, Sean Quirk, from Whitefish Bay, tells us the significance of the group’s music.
