Susan Coppersmith is a theoretical condensed matter physicist and a professor of physics at UW-Madison. She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in April. We spoke to her from the studios of Wisconsin Public Radio in Madison. She explains, in lay terms, exactly what it is that she does.

The website is funded by the Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin. Tenenbaum and Devitt spoke with Mitch Teich from the studios of Wisconsin Public Radio in Madison. Devitt says he thinks this is an especially important time to be a science writer.
