Award-winning author Anne Bausum looks into the darker side of American immigration in her newest book for young people. Anne Bausum is an award-winning author who writes about U.S. history for young people from her home in Beloit, Wisconsin. Bausum’s newest book is Denied, Detained, Deported: Stories from the Dark Side of American Immigration, and is published by the National Geographic Society. Bausum explained to Maggie Kingsbury why she feels its important to teach children about all of history.

Karen Deschere is the President and CEO of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Mark Davis is the chair of the jazz program there. A concert featuring Doc Severinsen, who is the honorary Chair of the conservatory’s new jazz program, will be held on June 19th at the Pabst Theater.
