S.L. Price is a senior writer at Sports Illustrated. His latest book is called Heart of the Game: Life, Death, and Mercy in Minor League America, published by Ecco. It centers on the story of Mike Coolbaugh, a 17-year minor league veteran, who was killed by a foul ball while coaching first base in a game in 2007. Coolbaugh had 82 at-bats in the major leagues - the first of which came with the Milwaukee Brewers, eight years ago today. Scott Price lives in Washington, DC – he spoke to Mitch Teich in early June from the studios of Texas Public Radio in San Antonio.
