The Arab American & Muslim American Experience After 9/11

On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we talk with a Marquette professor about how they changed life for Arab Americans and Muslim Americans in the U.S. Louise Cainkar is assistant professor of sociology and social justice at Marquette University. She is also the author of the new book Homeland Insecurity: The Arab American and Muslim American Experience After 9/11, published by Russell Sage Foundation. She tells Stephanie Lecci that she came up with the title after most of the people she interviewed for her book expressed feeling unsafe living in the United States after 9/11 - and not because of a threat of terrorism.
