Louise Cainkar is assistant professor of sociology and social justice at Marquette University. She is also the author of the new book Homeland Insecurity: The Arab American and Muslim American Experience After 9/11, published by Russell Sage Foundation. She tells Stephanie Lecci that she came up with the title after most of the people she interviewed for her book expressed feeling unsafe living in the United States after 9/11 - and not because of a threat of terrorism.
Part pop, part classical, part purely himself. Composer and singer/songwriter Gabriel Kahane is one of the featured guest performers for the opening concert of Milwaukee’s Present Music. The concert takes place tomorrow evening at Turner Hall Ballroom. He spoke with Bonnie North about his music.
