A budding political organization held its founding convention in Milwaukee Sunday. “Common Ground” has been in the formative stages for four years. Organizers have held dozens of focus groups across the metro area to identify residents’ top priority issues. Eventually, planners want to empower citizens to solve those issues. The Reverend Jean Dow is one of the organizers. She’s Associate Pastor at Immanuel Presbyterian Church on Milwaukee lower east side. Dow told WUWM’s Marge Pitrof that as the name ‘Common Ground’ suggests, the movement is seeking to draw together people who’ve been estranged…or unfamiliar with each other, although commonly concerned.
