Raw sewage dumped into Lake Michigan following the weekend storms has formed a plume that’s making its way miles off shore. The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District released raw sewage into the lake to take pressure off the system and protect homes and businesses from basement backups. Sabrina Mueller-Spitz is a researcher at UWM’s Great Lakes Water Institute. She’s part of a crew that’s collecting water samples and tracking the sewage plume in the lake. Mueller-Spitz spoke with WUWM’s Bob Bach.
