It appears the economy weighed heavily on the minds of Wisconsin voters today. According to exist polls conducted here, three in five voters across the state said that the economy is a more important issue facing the country than the Iraq war, terrorism, health care and energy policy.
Recent get-out-the-vote efforts appear to have had mixed results. About one in eight voters said they made their decisions within the last week. Their votes were evenly split between Senators Barack Obama and John McCain.
More than half of voters in Wisconsin said they disapprove of the Iraq war, and nearly three-quarters said they disapprove of President Bush's job performance.
