The race for governor is heating up, even though the election is more than a year and a half away. Today, former first district congressman Mark Neumann told WUWM that he's seriously considering running for the post.
"We are working very hard to get ready to get into the race sometime between now and October. At this point it looks like all systems are go and we'll be making some sort of an official announcement between now and October," Neumann said.
Neumann will likely face at least one other Republican in the primary. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker is expected to announce his bid on Tuesday, when he travels to five cities across Wisconsin.
It's believed that Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle will run for a third term in 2010.
