Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn is urging aldermen to fight for tougher gun laws. He appeared before a Common Council committee Wednesday. Flynn said, for instance, there should be more serious consequences for felons who are carrying a gun.
"People have to think, 'Uh-oh, I don't want to be caught with a gun in this town.' They're not thinking that right now," Flynn said.
Flynn says aldermen will have a better chance of passing tougher gun laws, if they focus on legislation that affects criminals and gun use, and not the general public.
