Federal Grant Will Help Pay for "Century City" Site Improvements

The City of Milwaukee has received  $1 million in federal matching funds to help cover infrastructure costs at the former Tower Automotive site near 35th and Capitol.Milwaukee officials will build a new roadway into the former Tower site and make other site improvements. A federal grant combined with matching funds will cover the project's $2 million cost. The Department of City Development has spent several years clearing and cleaning the sprawling site that once housed A.O. Smith's worldwide headquarters and manufacturing facilities. City officials want to convert the current site to 74 developable acres that will attract companies offering a range of entry level to high skilled jobs.
