There were 44 school funding referenda on ballots Tuesday.

Their goal was to let school districts raise funds to keep their doors open, or to construct new buildings.

An Associated Press tally says 31 referenda passed, while 12 failed. The results in one contest are not yet available.

The AP says among the successful referenda was a Green Bay proposal to allow the school district to spend $30 million on a new middle school and auditorium. Among the measures that failed, were requests in Sheboygan Falls for $30 million, to be spent on a new middle school and auditorium.
