Margaret Noodin

Advisory Board Member, Ex Officio

Margaret Noodin is Associate Dean for Humanities of the UWM College of Letters and Science. She came to UWM from the University of Michigan in 2013 as an Assistant Professor of English and American Indian Studies and rose to full Professor in 2019. Margaret is also the Director of the Electa Quinney Institute and the Assistant to the Provost for American Indian Programs.

Margaret holds a B.S. in Secondary Education, a B.A. in English, an MFA in Creative Writing, and a Ph.D. in Literature and Linguistics, all from the University of Minnesota. Before her academic career, Margaret spent over a dozen years in the private sector and led a large team as the Vice President for Marketing Finance at Borders Group, Inc. 

She is the author of Bawaajimo: A Dialect of Dreams in Anishinaabe Language and Literature; and of Weweni and What the Chickadee Knows, which are both bilingual collections of poetry in Anishinaabemowin and English. Visit to hear her work.
