America's Role in the World: A Conversation with Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

The presidential election is less than a week away, and foreign policy: America’s place, and role, in the world, will be a key part of the job for whichever administration takes office in January.

Madeleine Albright was the 64th Secretary of State, appointed by President Bill Clinton – she served in that role from 1997 – 2001. Dr. Albright currently serves as a Professor of International Relations at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service, and is campaigning for President Obama's re-election. We reached her by telephone at her office in Washington, DC.

Dr. Albright discusses what has been the defining foreign policy narrative of the past four years, the most pressing foreign policy issues facing the United States, and what attributes the next Secretary of State should have.
