Slate's Explainer: Sinclair, Kerry and Equal Time

Slate senior editor Andy Bowers comments on whether a television broadcaster can air a partisan film in the weeks leading up to a presidential election without granting equal time to the other side. The Sinclair broadcasting group has ordered all the stations in its network to air parts of a documentary criticizing the anti-war actions of a young John Kerry, who returned from Vietnam to lead a group of veterans opposed to the war.
