Governor's Approval Rating Dips Below 50 Percent

Whitney Curtis

Gov. Walker's approval rating in Wisconsin stands at 48 percent - a drop from 51 percent in May, according to the latest Marquette Law School Poll.

The poll's margin of error is 3.7 percentage points, so the shift fall within that range.

Similar to Walker's slipped support, President Obama's approval rating fell in Wisconsin - from 50 percent in May to 47 percent in the July poll.

Various regions of the state leaned in different directions. Walker's lowest approval ratings were in the City of Milwaukee (30%) and the Madison area (36%). His most favorable ratings came in the west and north (56%) and in the Green Bay-Appleton region (55%).

There were also gender differences. Wisconsin men approved the job Walker's doing by a 54-39 margin, while women's approval/disapproval marks were 43-52 percent.
