New Bill Would Raise State Highway Speed Limit to 70

A Wisconsin lawmaker will propose legislation today that would boost the state's highway speed limit from 65 mph to 70 mph.A proposal by Republican Rep. Paul Tittl of Manitowoc to raise the state's highway speed limit already has the blessings of Assembly Majority Leader Robin Vos.  Vos says he expects the item will be taken up when the legislature reconvenes next month. Yesterday, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation that raises the speed limit on rural stretches of highway in his state to 70 mph.
