While Republican activists fan out to register voters, Democratic women have formed a new PAC. Both camps know they have about one year to prevail.
A group of Democratic women in Wisconsin have formed WIN - Women in Numbers, a political action committee with the goal of increasing "the number of strongly progressive women elected to legislative and local offices in Wisconsin," according to a release.
It reports that women occupy only 25% of Wisconsin's legislative seats, while in the City of Milwaukee, only one woman serves on the Common Council.
Meanwhile, hundreds of GOP volunteers spent the weekend identifying likely Republican voters and making sure they are prepared to vote, if not help campaign for party candidates.
According to Jesse Dougherty, spokesperson for the Republican Party of Wisconsin, it has opened eight fully-staffed field offices across the state, in preparation for next year's elections. "We want to further spread the party's positive message," Dougherty said, "to continue moving Wisconsin forward."
