For students of the American Civil War, the story of Major General Benjamin Butler (later Congressman Butler) is an important one. A lawyer by training, Butler used his knowledge and skill in such a way that ultimately ended up changing the course of the war.

These events have been dramatized in a play called Ben Butler, written by Richard Strand, and it makes its Milwaukee premiere this week at Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. It's part history, part battle of wits, and part comedy.
