The Blended French Canadian Traditions Behind the Band Vishten

Vishten, Facebook

Pascal Miousse and twin sisters Emmanuelle and PastelleLeblanc – the group known as Vishten – have visited the Lake Effect performance studio in the past. They hail from Canada’s Iles de la Madeleine – of Magdalen Islands – and Prince Edward Island, respectively.

Their background – and their music draws on the remarkable cross-current of the traditional musics of the British Isles, France and French Canada, the region known as Acadia. Vishten was back in Milwaukee earlier this summer as part of the tour for their new album, Terre Rouge.
