Recent reports have sparked all kinds of speculation about House Speaker Paul Ryan's future

A lot of people are wondering about House Speaker Paul Ryan's future, after reports surfaced last week that he may leave Congress next year.  In this week's "Capitol Notes" conversation, Marti Mikkelson asked JR Ross of wispolitics.com what he thinks of the scuttlebutt.  He says there are some logical explanations as to why Ryan might be eyeing the exits, but there are also reasons to question the reports.

Ross also comments on whether Republican leaders' calls for the top brass of the Wisconsin Elections Commission to resign, following Attorney General Brad Schimel's investigation into leaked documents during the John Doe probe over Gov. Walker's recall campaign, will go anywhere.

And, Ross unpacks the results of the U.S. Senate race in Alabama last week, and what Democrat Doug Jones' victory means for the Wisconsin U.S. Senate race, which pits Incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin against at least two Republican challengers.

Marti was a reporter with WUWM from 1999 to 2021.
