Marti Mikkelson and JR Ross discuss the week in politics in our "Capitol Notes" conversation.

Longtime Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner says he won't seek reelection in 2020.  He's been serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for about 40 years and says it's time to pass the torch to somebody else.

Sensenbrenner's district north of Milwaukee leans heavily Republican. In this week's Capitol Notes conversation, WUWM's Marti Mikkelson asked JR Ross of wispolitics.com if a long list of Republican candidates might appear on the primary ballot next August.

Marti was a reporter with WUWM from 1999 to 2021.
