Children's Book Author Laurie Keller Discusses Latest Book, 'Potato Pants'

Children's book author Laurie Keller has a knack for coming up with peculiar subjects for her pieces, and her latest book is no exception. Potato Pants is the story of an anthropomorphic potato and his nemesis who is (naturally) an eggplant.

Keller also brought us the world of Arnie the Doughnut, The Scrambled States of America and Do Unto Otters, among other titles. She says she has always felt a kinship with inanimate objects, which is why they're often the subject of her book.

"I’ve always been really oddly drawn to inanimate objects, ever since I was a kid. I was absolutely sure that they had feelings and so I was always very empathetic with them," she explains.
