The GOP-sponsored legislation that would diminish the power of the incoming Democratic governor and attorney general made headlines around the world. It was also the subject of an op-ed in the New York Times by political writer Dan Kaufman.

Kaufman is the author of a book that came out earlier this year, called The Fall of Wisconsin, which recounts the last decade or so in the state’s tumultuous political history. Kaufman was in Wisconsin as the current political situation played out at the State House and says the scene was eerily reminiscent of the atmosphere surround the controversial Act 10 legislation.

He explains, "I was in the state capitol in a kind of deja vu at 8:30 in the morning, watching the final vote being taken on the final lame-duck legislation, which will remake Wisconsin state government."
