Ex Fabula: Milwaukee Artists

Kat Schleicher

Last season, ExFabula branched out with our brand new series, Secret Fabula. It is a members-only event that offers the opportunity to find stories within Milwaukee born businesses and institutions.

In honor of our upcoming SecretFabula at the Pitch Project, a brand new gallery in Milwaukee’s Historic Walker’s Point, we’re revisiting stories from some of our favorite Milwaukee artists.

Back in April of 2010, Richard Newman, co-founder of The Hinterlands Group, shared an entertaining story about his travels abroad during our Strangers in a Strange Land slam. We learned that even with questionable foreign shipping companies, a traveling circus show and missing puppets, the show must go on.

Anja Notanja

While missing props created a slight emergency for Richard, Milwaukee artist Anja Notanja shared how she handled an even bigger emergency at our March 2011 slam, Emergency. What do you do when you are allergic to everything and move in with a large, dirty dog? If you’re Anja, you move. Again. However, when the next place is overrun by another kind of creature it’s nothing a song, a stick and a pipe cleaner can’t fix.

The end of summer brings a lot of changes—shorter days, homework and pumpkin-spice flavored everything. But the best thing about the end of summer is the beginning of the newest Ex Fabula season! That’s right, we’ve got the stage, you’ve got the story and our season six kick off at Hot Water Warehouse is less than a month away!
