Over the course of the budget process that was recently completed, questions were asked about whether Governor Walker’s presumptive Presidential campaign affected the negotiation process.

Now that Walker’s campaign is no longer just presumptive, more questions are being asked about the campaign’s implications for public policy in Wisconsin.

"For Wisconsin, it’s pretty uncharted waters. But there has been precedent for this – George W. Bush, [Bill] Clinton - both were running while also governors," says Milwaukee Business Journal reporter Alison Bauter. "So in Wisconsin it’s sort of a matter of...what does this look like for us if our governor is campaigning around the country while also being governor?"

There are growing concerns that Scott Walker will be unable to perform his governmental duties due to his campaign - needing to divide his attention between two large commitments.  Would it truly be feasible for him to make big policy changes in the state and keep his authority while traveling across the country?

"It has an on influence, it has impact on the face you'll see in front of things," says Bauter. "A lot more of work is going to shift to the Governor's aides and to his team at the capital as well as most likely for Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch."
