State Sen. Chris Larson is urging his supporters to give incumbent Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele another chance after he defeated Larson on Tuesday.
The crowd had thinned out by the time Larson arrived at around 9:45 pm, but there still enough supporters in the room to give him a warm welcome. While upbeat, Larson acknowledged that this was not the result he wanted. Still he vowed to keep fighting.
“So big money may have won the battle, but they haven’t won the war,” Larson says.
Larson told his supporters that Chris Abele is different man than he was just months ago.
“He finally turned on the voicemail at Milwaukee County, he finally showed up to listen, and we have to appreciate that, right? That we moved him. We may not have gotten the results today, but we’re going to continue to push. We’re going to continue to make sure that we are heard. And it’s important for us to standup as straight as we can and say this is our community, we love it, and it’s going to be ours,” Larson says.
Larson says when he first announced that he would run, no one gave him a shot, but he says Tuesday proved a lot of people wrong, even with a loss. Larson was severely outspent. He says he spent about $2 for every vote while Abele spent around $42 per vote.
