From Litter to Loving Home, Puppy's Journey Laid Out In 'Zora: The Water Dog'

Writing your first book can be a daunting task, but when your subject is your Portugese Water Dog puppy that task becomes a little easier.

Amanda Lowney is a Milwaukee-based writer and the author of Zora: The Water Dog, a children’s book that looks at her dog’s journey from her litter mates to Lowney’s lap.

"Sometimes in children's literature, you're not really getting a lesson or something for the kids to take away when they're done reading the book. So that's something I wanted to focus on ... You know, change can be good. It's scary and it's hard, sometimes, but it can be really great and fun," says Lowney.

Lowney and the real-life Zora are attending Barktoberfest on Saturday, September 14, as part of the promotional tour for the book.
