Man With Underground Bunker Had Weapons Stash By Milwaukee River, Authorities Say

Nov 22, 2019

A man has been arrested following the discovery of an underground bunker containing weapons in a wooded area along the Milwaukee River.

Authorities aren't sure how long the man was living there, but say it could've been for a "considerable period" of time.

The underground bunker belonging to 41-year-old Geoffrey Graff was 8 feet deep, 8 feet wide and 20 feet long. Inside, Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell Lucas says authorities found: a rifle, a pistol, a sawed-off shotgun, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, three knives, a bow, and "arrows fashioned from snowplow stakes."

Graff was arrested after authorities responded to shots fired in the area, which isn't far from downtown.

The sheriff says, so far, authorities haven't found any evidence of Graff's ideological leanings or whether he had any plans for the weapons.
